Fruitful meetings with executives take place at Macquarie University

Fruitful meetings took place at Macquarie University with leading professors and executives, Professor Chris Dixon, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr Neil Durrant, Executive Director Faculty of Arts, Professor Hsu-Ming Teo, Head of the Department of MCCALL, Dr Jane Hanley, Discipline Chair Languages and Cultures and Dr Patricia Koromvokis, Lecturer in Modern Greek Studies.

On Tuesday, 9 May, the Macquarie Greek Studies Foundation representatives of the Macquarie Greek Studies Foundation Limited showcased the very impactful ongoing support towards the research collaborations and academic activities of the Modern Greek Studies Program and set the grounds for future synergies and for the promotion of the Modern Greek Studies Program. Theo Premetis, President, John Theodorodis, Secretary, George Vougioukas, Treasurer, John Kallimanis, Paul Tsanis, Dean Gogonlidis, President of the Greek Students Association and Zoe Re represented the Macquarie Greek Studies Foundation. 

On Thursday 11 May, Mr Ioannis Mallikourtis, the Greek Consul General in Sydney, visited Macquarie University and discussed prospects for further cooperation between the Consulate General of Greece, in Sydney, emphasising the need to promote the Greek language in the diaspora. Mr Mallikourtis had the opportunity to have a tour of the Macquarie History Museum by Professor Martin Bommas, Museum Director, and was most impressed with the exhibition of the Decipherment of the Linear B Script from the University of Texas at Austin, including letters from Michael Ventris to Emmett L. Bennett, and Alice E. Kober and Kober’s Research Notebook ‘words’.
